Guiding History and Traditions

Girl Guides have been in existence for over 100 years so there are many traditions to explore and experience including ceremonies, games, songs and stories.

The history and traditions of guiding help create sense of belonging to the organisation.  Many of our traditions are shared by girl guides and girl scouts (and some by Scouts) around the world – building a world-wide sense of community and friendship.

While we explore and respect our traditions, girls also are encouraged to develop new traditions; creating a sense of ownership and identy in their unit and district.
