Fun, friendship and adventure – Guiding is for girls and young women
Girl Guides activities are generally offered in four age groups. Girls aged 5-7 are Pre-junior Guides; 7-10 are Junior Guides; 10-14 are Guides; and 14-18 are Senior Guides. Guide Units will accommodate girls in one or two of these age groups.
A local area, called a district, will have a number of units meeting at different times and offering programs for different age groups. Units generally meet weekly during the school term. In their Units, Girl Guides plan and participate in activities, progress through challenges and earn badges, all of which are guided by the principles of the Australian Guide Program.
As well as the regular weekly meetings, Girl Guides can participate in special events and activities, such as hiking, camping, canoeing, Gang Show (with Scouts), activity days, ANZAC Day Service, or Clean Up Australia Day. Girl Guides can also be involved in state, national or international events.
